Serbia Renewable Energy Auctions Surpass Expectations

The Ministry of Mining and Energy announced in November 2024 that Serbia’s second renewable energy auction for wind and solar projects successfully allocated all offered capacity.

Serbia’s second renewable energy auction for wind and solar power, announced in late 2024, successfully allocated all available capacity, with applications closing in early 2025.

Wind projects saw competitive bidding, with five companies securing contracts at prices ranging between approximately €53–68 per MWh. Solar energy attracted significantly higher interest, with demand far exceeding the offered quota.

Multiple companies secured solar contracts, with winning bids priced between roughly €51–58 per MWh. The results reflect growing momentum in renewable energy investments, particularly in solar, which saw stronger participation compared to earlier.
